In Memoriam
It is with a heavy heart that we must notify the community of the passing of our friend and business partner, Chris Tansil. Chris was an amazing mentor and teacher of structural engineering to his staff, his students, and his peers.
Following a masters degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Chris spent 2 years as a professor in Nepal, trekking the Himalayas and teaching engineering to locals. Following his return to Dallas, he advanced to lead teams for several prominent Dallas structural engineering firms for nearly three decades.
His career included groundbreaking projects such as the UTSW Phase IV and V North Campus in Dallas, The University of Texas at Austin Engineering Education Research Center, The University of Texas at Dallas Bioengineering & Sciences Building, and The New Parkland Hospital in Dallas. While teaching as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, Chris helped pass on knowledge and guidance to many future structural engineers.
As a leader in our firm, Chris offered unparalleled wisdom to our staff and our clients. His door was never closed, he was always ready to stop what he was doing to help, and always had the best stories to tell. Chris was the true meaning of a good shepherd, and a best-friend to us all. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service for Chris will be held at 2 pm Monday, July 19, in Wynne Chapel at Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
At the request of his family, In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Beatrice’s college fund or a charity of your choice.
